Kathlyn Bennett’s writing carries an unusual dimension shaped by her academic background in Clinical Psychology and her longstanding fascination with human behaviour.

Her interest in psychology began during her school years, driven by a desire to understand herself, the people around her, and the circumstances that influence human behaviour.

Poetry became another way of exploring those questions.

Her writing journey began during her undergraduate years, when her first poem was published in an anthology. Since then, she has contributed poems, letters, and quotes to multiple anthologies and publishing platforms.

Her debut solo work, Hunter of Reveries, an anthology of English poetry and scribbles, was completed in 2022 and published in 2024.

Today, with The Warmth and Smears and The Silent Slays of Vagalume, Kathlyn enters a new chapter of her literary journey with two collections that reveal different sides of her creative voice.

A Poet Inspired by More Than Words

Kathlyn's creativity extends beyond literature.

Her artistic interests include canvas, glass and fabric painting, mandala art, handicrafts, and other visual forms. She has also explored Indian classical dance, including Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam, alongside contemporary and semi-classical forms.

This multidisciplinary creative background contributes to the emotional and visual character of her writing—allowing her to observe life not just through words, but through movement, colour, imagination, and human connection.

A Message Behind the Writing

At the centre of Bennett’s journey is a simple philosophy:

“Give a try before you leave it.”

The words, shared with her by teachers, became a guiding principle in her creative journey—encouraging her to explore possibilities instead of abandoning them before giving herself the opportunity to try.
