New Delhi: The search for India's next girl idol group has officially begun. Team Zenith, a newly launched music project, has invited applications from young women across the country as it begins the process of selecting members for what is planned as an Indian pop, or I-Pop, group.

The initiative is being led by content creator and influencer Techi Anung, who says the auditions are intended to discover performers with the ability and determination to build a career in music.

Applications have been opened through an online registration process, with candidates expected to go through multiple rounds before the final lineup is announced.

According to the organisers, the idea behind Team Zenith came from a simple observation. While K-pop has built a large fan base in India over the past few years, many young people who enjoy singing and dancing have had limited opportunities to train and perform as part of a professionally managed idol group within the country.

Rather than copying an existing format, the team says its objective is to develop an Indian group with its own identity while adopting the discipline, teamwork and performance standards associated with successful idol groups around the world.

"We know there is incredible talent in different parts of India," the organisers said. "What many aspiring performers need is a platform where they can be seen, trained and encouraged to grow."

Unlike talent competitions that concentrate only on finished performers, Team Zenith says its auditions will also consider potential. Singing ability and dance skills will be important, but so will commitment, confidence, stage presence and the willingness to work as part of a team.

The organisers believe that many performers improve significantly once they receive structured training, making attitude just as important as previous experience.

Techi Anung, who has built a substantial following through her digital content, is overseeing the project from its audition stage through to the group's development. Her involvement is expected to help connect emerging artists with audiences that actively follow music and digital entertainment.

People associated with the project say the response has already started coming in from different parts of the country, reflecting the growing interest among young performers in opportunities beyond conventional singing competitions.

India's independent music industry has expanded steadily over the past few years, creating space for artists who build audiences through digital platforms. Team Zenith hopes to become part of that changing landscape by introducing a girl group trained specifically for live performances, music releases and digital content.

The organisers say this is only the first stage of a longer process. After auditions are completed, shortlisted candidates will move into the next phase, where training and evaluation will continue before the final members are selected.

Applications are now open for aspiring performers who wish to be considered.
